Domain Name Ideas
Lesson 16 Module 3
Here's some extra help on how to get ideas for a brandable domain name.
USE A DOMAIN NAME GENERATOR
To get your creative juices flowing, you can use a domain name generator like the one here.
USE A THESAURUS
When I'm coming up with a new blog name, I jot down interesting words and try to combine it with my niche.
I have my list of keywords (very short) and my list of interesting words (very long) and see what combinations sound good.
COMBINE TWO WORDS
You can combine two words that fit well together. For example Facebook, Snapchat, Starbucks, Blackberry, Bestbuy, CocaCola and MasterCard.
MAKE UP A WORD
Some of the biggest brand names aren't even real words. Think Twitter, Google, Yahoo, Kodak, Sony, Ikea, Pepsi, Nike, Lego, Skype and eBay.
ADD A PREFIX OR A SUFFIX TO A KEYWORD
Here are some common prefixes/suffixes to add to a domain name:
YourKeyword + Direct, Daily, Club, Network, Focus, System, Now, Central, Zone, Voice, Watch.
For example, say you want to start a mortgage blog. The domain HouseMortgage.com doesn’t work.
Instead, you can try MortgageNation.com or MortgageMadness.com.
DOMAINS OF SIX FIGURE BLOGGERS
Looking for more domain name inspiration? Here are some of the domain names of six figure bloggers.
WHERE TO GET A DOMAIN NAME
There are some pretty bad domains out there that are very successful. Likewise there's some great domain names that get no traffic.
The big takeaway is that your content will be exponentially more important than your domain name.
So, do some brainstorming, sleep on it if you must, but choose a name and run with it!
